Recorded on a Tuesday night fill-in for Joel Krutts 'Pushing The Envelope'. Glad to fill in especially since my show next Saturday is preempted by UConn Sports. We'll play an eclectic mix of Jazz and fusion. This show also features Mike Stern's brand new release, Who Let the Cat's Out.

Thanks again to Mr. G, host of Green Arrow Radio for filling in on In The Groove, Jazz and beyond. Check out www.greenarrowradio.com for more info on Mr. G's own great show on WHUS.

Another guitar show! Last week we did a celebration of John McLauglins new CD, but there are many other great guitarists trying to make it out there doing a jazz or fusion thing. Some play hard bop, some fusion, some exploring new ground. We'll hear from them tonight.

For me, whenever a new John McLauglin album is released, it is a cause for celebration. It was JM, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra that opened my mind up to jazz music. Like many others of my generation that listened to Mahavishnu, we then listened to his work with Miles, than to Chick, Herbie, Shorter, and from their spread out to the many facets of Jazz. This week John McLaughlin released Industrial Zen. We will play several cuts from that album as well as JM from the past and other examples of his influence on modern jazz and fusion.
