The Future of Jazz

It seems like all the new creative output in jazz comes from Independent artists. It is rare to see a new jazz cat signed by a major (or minor) record label. Makes you wonder if we will ever see another Trane, Miles, Parker or Brubeck, without the promotion or backing of a large record company. New jazz artists now produce and promote themselves. We are grateful here at ITG to receive CD's from new artists and are glad to promote their great musical creations over the airwaves and through our podcast. That is what tonights show is all about.

Lazy Jazz DJ

What does any Jazz DJ do when he has not had time to prepare for a broadcast? He plays those 15-30 minute epic jazz suites or long tracks while scrambling around for the next tune to queue up... and that's exactly what I did this evening.

Summertime

It's the official start of Summer, so what's better than Summer inspired songs. I could do a whole week of shows with different renditions of Summertime, but that could get tedious. None the less, we'll slip in several versions of the great Gershwin tune, along with other laid back tracks that go well with kickin' back in the sun or a warm summer night and diggin' great jazz tunes.
