Newport Jazz Festival 2009 review
I covered the 2009 Newport Jazz Festival for WHUS and this blog/podcast. Coverage of the event consisted of a NJF Preview show, a written review of the event, photo gallery, and a Post Festival review podcast. They are all presented here for your viewing, reading and listening pleasure. I also included a link to NPR's excellent coverage of the event that includes recorded performances that you can download as a podcast or listen to as streaming audio. Enjoy!

Wow!
Great photos, not to mention the lineup!! This was some kind of Newport. Loved the piks of Christian McBride, with the ever present cigar. He was the 'artist in resident' last year at Detroit's Jazz Fest and has such a great personality! Speaking of Detroit, I especially enjoyed the piks of James Carter and his Detroit homies: Gerard Gibbs on organ and Dr. Leonard King on drums. These guys are true 'D' heros here in town, with a large fan base.
My next stop will be to NPR to hear what I missed in person. It's always good to 'share the air' with our favorite artists!
Keep sharin' Ken...
