Fusion Fill-in
My regular show this week was preempted for sports, so I have a posted a broadcast from a December fill-in I did for DJ Slammin' Sammy on WHUS FM. We start with a cookin funky track from Boston based Akashic Record. We continue on with a wide range of electric Jazz-Rock fusion that shows the breadth of this genre. Perhaps the most outrageous track is from Miles from India. From the website; A Cross-Cultural Celebration of the Music of Miles Davis by India's Foremost Musicians Collaborating with the Legendary Musicians Who Comprised the Various Miles Davis Bands Over the Years. An interesting CD which I don't know that I enjoy in its entirety, but sure has some very interesting moments and a great cast of musicians.Correction: In the Podcast I state that Alex Skolnick was in the metal band Transformation. Actually, Transformation is the name of the album. His metal band is Testament.

Actually, Alex Skolnick was (and is now back) in the heavy metal band TESTAMENT (quite heavy thrash, not really "hair" metal). He also had a short stint in prog/hard rock band SAVATAGE, but was primarily known for Testament.

Thanks for clearing that up. That was just an on-air screw up. I said he was in the band Transformation. The name of the album that I was playing is Transformation. As you stated, the band he played in was Testament. Damn, didn't know he was back playing heavy metal. Too bad, he seems to be a talented jazz guitarist. I'm sure he is making a lot more money and other perks, playing rock. :-)
Wow, I haven't heard that name for years!
There's not so much money in thrash metal! I think regular gigs would be more feasible for a good jazz guitarist...
im sure there just as much in afact i know that there is more talent in bein a thrash metal lead guitarist than a jazz guitarist u schmucks
