Heard Only Here
This show will start out with a set of tracks that can only be heard on In The Groove. Bassist Rob Duguay, Trumpeter Josh Evans, and Alto player Greg Abate have all recently layed us on to some tracks they have recorded, and are not published on any commercially available CD. After listeneing to those tunes, I've got a few tunes I had queued up from last weeks show but never got to play from Empirical and Esperanza Spaulding.
Playlist
Track * Artist * Album
Ketch Yo Last Metro * Rob Duguay Quartet * Pulo-Du-guay-to
Track 5 * Josh Evans Quartet
Star Eyes (alt 1) * Greg Abate
The Deep * Empirical * Empirical
Cuerpa Y Alma (Body and Soul) * Esperanza Spaulding * Esperanza
Time Out * Hiromi * Hiromi's Sonic Boom. Time Control

I loved this podcast! Thank you!
Ken-another great podcast. Greg Abate was superb as usual.
Surprised that you are new to Hiromi. Her music is varied, but a lot of it is funky and fun like the track you played. The bassist on that album, Tony Grey also has a beautiful album called Moving that I highly recommend.
I was totally put off by the chanting at the beginning of the Empirical track, but completely taken with it by the end.
By the way, a few podcasts ago, you were talking about being drawn into jazz by Bitches Brew. That album has also been one of my main gateways from rock and electronic music into jazz. Still such a brilliant album. Could you play some tunes from Miles 70s, pre-hiatus period on a future show?
Thank You!
I love your podcast.
Great Hiromi.
I'd like listen some about Kenny Kirkland, some live recording.
Bye from Italy
