Groovin' with Greg

One of the best alto sax players on the jazz scene today, Greg Abate, appeared live in the WHUS studio for this show. We talked about jazz, performing on the road, and some of Greg's recent projects and upcoming gigs. Greg also performed solo on the alto sax for us live. Check out Greg's website for more information on his schedule, and his recordings. Thanks to Greg and Kerry for making the trip to Storrs Connecticut for this special show.

Ken,

Nice program!
Send my regards to Mr. Abate.

p.s.: just a suggestion: If these podcasts were limited to 80min, we'll be able to record them onto CDs.

Cordially,

Most of my podcasts are recorded to CD-R from my radio broadcast, and are an 80 minute segment of the show. This show was special with the appearance of Greg Abate, and I wanted to get the entire show while he was present. Next week its back to 70-80 minute shows.

I have an internet jazz radio station and would love to do a podcast. How do you afford to do this podcast? To get the required mechanical licenses to distribute a hard copy of the songs would be thousands of dollars. Or do you have a licensed agreement with the artists and labels to distribute copies of their performances. My research and attorneys told me a podcast like this was essentially impossible to do, yet you've managed to accomplish it. I'd love to know how you've done it.

Anonymous,
email me if you want my perspective about risking doing this podcast considering the issues you raise.
