The Hartford International Jazz Festival

One of the greatest weekends of the year for jazz lovers is the Hartford International Jazz Festival, coming up next weekend, October 5-7. Some great jazz concerts on the Main Stages (I am looking forward to seeing Ravi Coltrane). After the main shows, many of the Hartford night clubs are stacked with the best of the local area jazz cats at various venues. I am sure we'll have a lot of late night jammin' with the likes of Dezron Douglas, Mario Pavone, the Curtis brothers and much more. If you are in the area, you just have to check this out.

Ken,
I envy your city hosting a jazz fest. In Detroit, we just concluded our annual jazz festival, held every Labor Day weekend.

Kenny Garrett, Yusef Lateef, The Charles Tolliver Big Band, Kurt Elling, Herbie Hancock and Detroit's own..Regina Carter AND Ron Carter were just a few of the artists that performed.

If you're a gamblin' man, and want to enjoy what's billed as 'The Largest Outdoor Jazz Festival in North America', then check us out next year. Also check the new MGM Grand Hotel and Casino that opened in Detroit, yesterday. (a plug?)

Having mentioned Kurt, maybe a show on vocalese? Mark Murphy, Kurt, Jon Hendricks, and of course Eddie Jefferson...just a thought.

The show just seems to get better all the time! I know I STILL download every Monday..

Take care,
Toni in the D...

I'm chomping my way through all of your podcasts bit by bit. I listened to this one this evening while walking through Paris after dinner. I tell you; wrapped up warm, a slight breeze about, the glowing lights of Paris and that Jazz cast on my ipod was a brilliant experience. Top stuff!

Edward.
