Another cool night in NYC. Here are some of the acts we caught at the Jazz Standard and the Village Vanguard a couple of nights ago. It is wonderful and inspiring to see such a great number of fresh new jazz artists on the scene. These aren't just great musicians showing off their chops, but artist with their own voices, taking the music in new directions. Very hip. The first half of this show features some of these artists, and part two highlights some of the grand masters that have played and recorded at the legendary Village Vanguard in the past.

Thanks for this great show, Ken. Yes, I know it is a very late reaction, but the disadvantage of podcasts is that sometimes they get in a "buffer" and I can only listen to them later.
I especially liked this show because it is, in my opinion, very difficult to catch the atmosphere of a good live concert on tape (or film). Your playlist shows that it is indeed possible.
On top of that, it made me jealous that I don't live in or near New York...
Ken, it's my first time on your website,listened for the last 45 min and I'm blown away !!! What a great selection on your "Live in NYC" podcast !!! I've enjoyed your presentation too !
Thanks for bringing to us all these new artists that personally, I haven't heard of till now: Aaron Goldberg or Janek Gwizdala !
By the way do you know who the drummer is on Aaron's cuts ?
